Nader's 2004 Running Mate, Comejo, Dies

advertisement

Peter Comejo, who was Ralph Nader's vice presidential running mate in 2004, died today from lymphoma at the age of 69. He had been diagnosed with lymphoma in 2007 and was in remission until doctors made a second diagnosis in May of this year.

Prior to running for Vice President in 2004, Comejo was the Green Party nominee for governor of California in 2002, in which he received 5.3% of the vote, the best showing for a third party candidate in California in more than 50 years. In the 2003 California recall vote for governor, Comejo was the endorsed Green Party candidate and came in fourth out of a field of 135 candidates on the ballot. In 2006 he made one last bid for governor in which he won 2.3% of the vote. He was also the Socialist Workers Party presidential candidate in 1976.
